Severn Clinics is a pain and injury clinic in central Wellington, providing treatment and rehabilitation for people with new, recurring or persistent pain.

Care built around the individual
People often come to Severn after previous treatments have helped only briefly, or not enough. The team brings hands-on care, treatment technologies and rehabilitation together around the person and their pain. The aim is meaningful relief and greater freedom to do the things pain has made difficult, from working and sleeping to exercising and enjoying everyday life.
Deep tissue and fascial release, joint mobilisation, spinal manipulation and cupping are among the options available to help relieve pain and improve comfortable movement.
Hands-on careAcupuncture and dry needling can form part of a wider pain-relief plan, alongside hands-on care and other treatments selected for the individual.
Treatment optionsFocused and radial shockwave therapy, alongside high-power and low-level laser therapy, add to the options available for treating pain and injury.
Shockwave therapyAssessment of walking patterns, movement and how the body bears weight helps guide treatment, rehabilitation and practical changes relevant to everyday activities.
Gait analysisComputerised gait analysis assesses how the feet move and bear weight. Severn uses this information to prescribe custom insoles suited to the person’s movement and needs.
Custom orthoticsExercise prescription, core activation training, practical advice and coaching support recovery beyond initial pain relief. The aim is to improve function and help progress last.
RehabilitationOur approach to care

The first consultation allows time to discuss symptoms, previous treatment and the effect pain has on daily life.
Patients are encouraged to explain all the pain they are experiencing, including problems affecting more than one area.
Hands-on care, treatment technologies and rehabilitation can be combined in a plan selected for the individual.
Practitioners explain their recommendations, assess the response to care and adapt the next steps.
Rehabilitation supports a return to everyday activities, with the aim of lasting improvement and greater independence from treatment.
